Supported Sites and Compatibility

The real status of every platform, including the ones no extension can download from. No vague "works on 1000+ sites" claims: full, partial, or blocked, with the technical reason each time.

By Romain Gouraud, founder

Most download tools promise everything and let you discover the failures yourself. This page does the opposite. It is generated from the same platform matrix our engineering uses internally, and it is updated whenever support changes. If a status here looks wrong, that is a bug: tell us at [email protected].

Everything else: the universal engines

Beyond the platforms above, Vidora watches the network for the three standards that power most video on the open web. Any site using them works without a dedicated integration, which is why the practical answer to "is my site supported?" is usually yes:

Course platforms, community sites, webinar tools and most independent video hosts fall in this category. The output is a clean MP4 in the original quality: Vidora never re-encodes and never adds a watermark of its own. If the platform bakes a watermark into the source file (TikTok does), the download preserves that original as-is.

What Vidora will never download, and why

PlatformStatusReason
YouTubeBLOCKEDChrome Web Store policy and YouTube terms prohibit it. Blocked by design, not a bug.
Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Hulu, HBO Max, Apple TV+BLOCKEDDRM encryption (Widevine, PlayReady). Decryption keys never reach any extension.
Udemy, Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, Skillshare, PluralsightBLOCKEDCourse videos are DRM-protected. Same technical impossibility as streaming services.

If a competing tool claims it downloads from these platforms, it is either lying, breaking the law, or serving you a screen recording. We would rather tell you the truth here than collect one-star reviews there.

Why a download can still fail on a supported site

Honesty cuts both ways, so here are the real-world limits. A small share of downloads fail even on supported platforms, for three main reasons:

  1. Expiring links. Many CDNs sign their video URLs with a short-lived token. If the page has been open for a while, refresh it and download again.
  2. Anti-bot walls. Some CDNs (Cloudflare challenges, DataDome) reject any request that does not come from the exact player session. Vidora retries with your cookies and the right referrer before giving up.
  3. Session-bound streams. A few hosts bind the stream to your IP and player instance. When that happens, no extension can fetch it separately.

When a download fails, Vidora tells you instead of producing a corrupted file. Our privacy-safe diagnostics (anonymous, opt-out, never a URL) are how we find and fix the failure patterns that can be fixed. If you hit a wall on a site you care about, the fastest fix is the report button in the popup.

Step-by-step guides for popular platforms

For the platforms people ask about most, we keep detailed walkthroughs with screenshots and fallback methods: downloading Vimeo videos, saving Loom recordings, grabbing Wistia embeds and keeping Skool classroom lessons.
