Supported Sites and Compatibility
The real status of every platform, including the ones no extension can download from. No vague "works on 1000+ sites" claims: full, partial, or blocked, with the technical reason each time.
Most download tools promise everything and let you discover the failures yourself. This page does the opposite. It is generated from the same platform matrix our engineering uses internally, and it is updated whenever support changes. If a status here looks wrong, that is a bug: tell us at [email protected].
How to read the statuses
- FULL Vidora downloads reliably, either through a dedicated integration or first-class coverage by its streaming engines, with the best quality picked up automatically.
- PARTIAL Downloads work in many cases through the generic engines, but the platform actively fights automation, so some videos will fail.
- BLOCKED Not supported on purpose: either store policy forbids it, or DRM encryption makes it technically impossible for any extension.
Platforms with dedicated support
| Platform | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Vimeo | FULL | Progressive MP4 and DASH streams, quality picker included. |
| Loom | FULL | Multi-bitrate HLS, works on share and embed links. |
| Wistia | FULL | Direct MP4 in every published quality. |
| Skool | FULL | Classroom videos (Mux player). Press play once so the lesson token loads. |
| TikTok | FULL | Public videos. Links expire fast, so download right after opening the page. |
| Dailymotion | FULL | HLS preferred, MP4 fallback per resolution. |
| Twitch | FULL | Clips and VODs. Subscriber-only VODs need your logged-in session. |
| FULL | Hosted videos (v.redd.it) through the universal streaming engine, audio merged automatically. | |
| X (Twitter) | PARTIAL | The video CDN tightened bot checks in 2026; some downloads are rejected server-side. |
| Bunny Stream | PARTIAL | Generic embed support. Hotlink-protected libraries may refuse. |
| Vidyard | PARTIAL | Generic embed support, quality varies by account settings. |
| Facebook / Instagram | PARTIAL | No dedicated integration. Occasionally detected through the generic engines, not guaranteed. |
Everything else: the universal engines
Beyond the platforms above, Vidora watches the network for the three standards that power most video on the open web. Any site using them works without a dedicated integration, which is why the practical answer to "is my site supported?" is usually yes:
- HLS streams (m3u8 playlists), including AES-128 encrypted segments
- DASH streams (mpd manifests), with automatic audio and video muxing
- Direct MP4 and WebM files, in every published resolution
Course platforms, community sites, webinar tools and most independent video hosts fall in this category. The output is a clean MP4 in the original quality: Vidora never re-encodes and never adds a watermark of its own. If the platform bakes a watermark into the source file (TikTok does), the download preserves that original as-is.
What Vidora will never download, and why
| Platform | Status | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube | BLOCKED | Chrome Web Store policy and YouTube terms prohibit it. Blocked by design, not a bug. |
| Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, Hulu, HBO Max, Apple TV+ | BLOCKED | DRM encryption (Widevine, PlayReady). Decryption keys never reach any extension. |
| Udemy, Coursera, LinkedIn Learning, Skillshare, Pluralsight | BLOCKED | Course videos are DRM-protected. Same technical impossibility as streaming services. |
If a competing tool claims it downloads from these platforms, it is either lying, breaking the law, or serving you a screen recording. We would rather tell you the truth here than collect one-star reviews there.
Why a download can still fail on a supported site
Honesty cuts both ways, so here are the real-world limits. A small share of downloads fail even on supported platforms, for three main reasons:
- Expiring links. Many CDNs sign their video URLs with a short-lived token. If the page has been open for a while, refresh it and download again.
- Anti-bot walls. Some CDNs (Cloudflare challenges, DataDome) reject any request that does not come from the exact player session. Vidora retries with your cookies and the right referrer before giving up.
- Session-bound streams. A few hosts bind the stream to your IP and player instance. When that happens, no extension can fetch it separately.
When a download fails, Vidora tells you instead of producing a corrupted file. Our privacy-safe diagnostics (anonymous, opt-out, never a URL) are how we find and fix the failure patterns that can be fixed. If you hit a wall on a site you care about, the fastest fix is the report button in the popup.
Step-by-step guides for popular platforms
For the platforms people ask about most, we keep detailed walkthroughs with screenshots and fallback methods: downloading Vimeo videos, saving Loom recordings, grabbing Wistia embeds and keeping Skool classroom lessons.
