How do I install Vidora? +
- Open the Chrome Web Store listing.
- Click Add to Chrome.
- Confirm the permissions (they let Vidora see the videos a page plays).
- Pin the Vidora icon to your toolbar so it is one click away.
No account and no card: during the launch, every feature is free with no download limit.
Vidora does not detect any video on a page +
Try the following:
- Start the video first. Many players only load the video once playback starts, and Vidora needs to see that load.
- Click the Refresh scan button (circular arrow) in the popup header.
- Reload the page and open the popup again.
- Have the link of the video or its page? Use Paste a link at the bottom of the popup.
- YouTube is not supported: this is a legal restriction, not a bug. DRM-protected services (Netflix, Disney+, paid streaming) cannot be downloaded by any browser extension.
A download fails or stops before the end +
The site's server usually refused part of the video (expired link, protection against downloads). Try:
- Keep the original tab open, with the video playing, while the download runs: Vidora can then fetch blocked parts through the page.
- Click Retry on the failed download.
- Pick a lower quality in the quality menu if the highest one keeps failing.
- Still failing on a specific site? Click 1-click report on the failed card to send us the page address, the video address and the technical details at once, or Add details to review them and write a message before you click Send, so we can fix that site.
Why does Vidora say a video is protected by DRM? +
Some services and course platforms encrypt their videos with DRM (Widevine, PlayReady or FairPlay). Vidora checks the video file and the player's manifest, and when the encryption is proven it shows a single card that says so, instead of a download that would give an unplayable file. No browser extension can download these videos: bypassing this protection is prohibited by law. To watch offline, use the platform's own download option or app, if it offers one.
Can Vidora always download my preferred quality? +
Yes. Pick a quality in a video's menu (for example 4K) and download: Vidora remembers it and picks it by default next time, or the closest available, including from the button on the video, the right-click menu and Alt+D. You can also set it in Options, Settings tab, Preferred quality. By default, Vidora picks the best quality up to 1080p.
How do I hide the Vidora button on videos? +
When you hover a video, Vidora shows a small Download button in its corner, with a close button next to it.
- On one page: click the close button. The message that follows offers Hide on this site, or Undo.
- On one site: click the Vidora icon and switch off Button on videos at the bottom of the popup. Switch it back on the same way.
- Everywhere: right-click the Vidora icon, then Options, Settings tab, and switch off Download button on videos. The sites where you hid it are listed there, each with Show again.
You can still download from the Vidora icon at any time.
How do I change the extension's language? +
Vidora follows your browser language automatically, in 30 languages. To pick another one: right-click the Vidora icon, then Options, Settings tab, Language menu.
Can I use Vidora on Edge, Brave or Opera? +
Yes. Chromium-based browsers install Chrome Web Store extensions: Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera and Vivaldi all work. Install it from the Chrome Web Store.
How do I uninstall Vidora? +
Right-click the Vidora icon in your toolbar, click Remove from Chrome, and confirm. Its local data (settings, download history) is removed with it.
